Hey look, there's an initial draft text. Gray 06:23, 24 March 2011 (PDT)
Really great, thanks Gray. I did a bit of clean-up, but you did an amazing job. And I like what you said about Jigsaw's views on education. Willow 12:51, 24 March 2011 (PDT)

[edit] Jigsaw Policies to consider
As per the Membership Agreement:
- Gatherings held by members which gain a profit (beyond covering materials) must either pay Jigsaw Renaissance 15% or $15, whichever is greater.
- Gatherings held by non-members which gain a profit must either pay Jigsaw Renaissance 30% or $40, whichever is greater.
You can add things to the calendar by logging in as "guest" at calendar.jigsawrenaissance.org with password fib0nacci and creating an event. Several people have the ability to make it into an actual event.
There must be a keyed person present to set up, host, and break down after the event

[edit] Things to add:
Robin sez: add cleaning bathroom/checking to make sure bathroom is clean, consider vacuuming, seeing if trash and recycling need to go out, and double check to make sure dishes are addressed as part of cleaning up.
I added some stuff to the policies section to address this by making the "clean up after your class" part more explicit. Gray 18:16, 24 March 2011 (PDT)
[edit] Approval
There's nothing here about how to actually get an official approval for the event..!
I'm kind of "going around the edges" to get the No More Secondhand Art event through, because there doesn't appear to be any procedure at all.
I've talked with Matt and Budi at the space, and everything _seems_ okay. I know that I have "inside track" approval because Willow and James are both very enthusiastic, and because I have a history with this group. But if I were an outsider, this would be totally inaccessible to me. As an insider, even, I'm not really sure if what I'm doing is "okay" or not. I'm just sort of taking a leap of faith here.
We explicitly left that off because this was written shortly before the transition to the new board. It would be a good thing to bring up at a membership meeting.

[edit] Intentions
One of my main efforts is encouraging people to see themselves as capable of giving classes or throwing events, and then supporting people in actually doing that.
I have a number of efforts related to that, but one of the things is making it clear how to create an event.
Here's what I have come up with.
- Consolidate "Creating Events" and "Starting Classes."
- Transcribe procedures from Robin's email.
- Encourage, encourage, encourage.
- Highlight the 3 core actions that are necessary, whatever they are.
- Tell important practical information in a simple table.
Step 1. From http://www.jigsawrenaissance.org/calendar/, click on "Tungle it."
Step 2. Pick a time slot.
Step 3. Describe your event.
What will happen:
- Your scheduling request will go out to the board & others. They will certify that your event is not spam.
- The event will appear on the Jigsaw Renaissance calendar.
- Michael Park will include your event (and the description you provided) in his Sunday email to DaVinci, the Jigsaw Renaissance mailing list. (Email mpark@jigsaw if you want it described in a particular way.)
- Budi often cross-posts to Facebook, as well.
Robin suggests:
- quarterly-to-monthly: discussion on how to make successful events, including tips from current event makers
- that this discussion be part of the Open House events
